India Bangladesh Cricket Match Fight
The ICC has filed charges against three Bangladeshi players, Akash Singh, and Ravi Bishnoi for their alleged participation in the on-field altercation that occurred on Sunday in Potchefstroom, South Africa, just after the U-19 World Cup summit match.
After a few players from both teams nearly exchanged blows after Bangladesh defeated India by three wickets to win their first U-19 World Cup, Akash and Bishnoi and three Bangladeshi players Md. Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, and Rakibul Hasan were found guilty of violating the ICC Code of Conduct.
Five players were charged with violating Article 2.21 of the code, while Bishnoi was also charged with infringing Article 2.5, the ICC said in a statement. "Five players have been found guilty of a Level 3 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Support Personnel," the statement read.
The statement said, "All five players have accepted the punishments recommended by ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup Match Referee Graeme Labrooy."
After their historic victory over India in the championship game, several Bangladeshi players went overboard in their celebration. While the Indian captain Priyam Garg felt it was something that should not have happened, their captain Akbar Ali apologized for the "unfortunate situation."
The fielding behavior of the Bangladeshi players was openly violent, with their star pacer Shoriful Islam slapping the Indian batting order after each delivery. Shoriful was captured on camera loudly swearing several times as Bangladesh came close to scoring the winning runs.
