Fantasy league IPL is a popular virtual game where users form their own team of eleven players and compete with the teams of other users, with points based on how those players perform in the actual matches.
In IPL fantasy cricket, cricket lovers enjoy making their own teams and cricket predictions, which helps them feel part of the ongoing action.
What changed for fantasy cricket in India
Fantasy cricket in India is very different from a few years ago. The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, which received presidential assent on 22 August 2025, bans all online real-money games, including paid fantasy contests, along with advertising them and processing payments for them.
As a result, Dream11, MPL, My11Circle and other apps stopped paid contests and deposits in August 2025. Dream11 relaunched as a free-to-play fantasy game supported by ads and sponsors. A challenge to the law is pending before the Supreme Court, but no stay has been granted, so as of October 2026 fantasy cricket in India is played for fun and bragging rights, not for cash.
How to build your fantasy team
You can get IPL fantasy league tips at CBTF that will guide you in choosing the best players for every match. Most apps ask you to pick 11 players within a credit budget, with at least one wicketkeeper, batter, all-rounder and bowler. Choose your captain and vice-captain wisely, as they score 2X and 1.5X points respectively.
IPL cricket match predictions become much easier when you follow prompt news and form. Here is what IPL 2026 taught fantasy players:
- Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (Rajasthan Royals) was the best fantasy pick of the season: 776 runs, a record 72 sixes and the Most Valuable Player award, at just 15.
- Virat Kohli (RCB) scored 600-plus runs for the fourth straight season and won the final with 75 not out.
- Kagiso Rabada (Gujarat Titans) won the Purple Cap with 29 wickets, one more than Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
- Rajat Patidar (RCB) made 93 not out off 33 balls in Qualifier 1, a match-winning captain's pick.
- KL Rahul (Delhi Capitals) hit 152 not out against Punjab Kings, the highest IPL score by an Indian batter.
- MS Dhoni did not play a single match because of injury, a reminder to check team news before every lock.
This kind of information gives a clear idea of team and player form and makes it easier for fantasy cricket players to build a strong team.
