Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli both scored half-centuries in the pursuit, but India eventually ran out of energy. India threatened to win the game for the hosts in the chase despite losing KL Rahul early. Together, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli scored 79 and 60 runs for the second wicket. India crossed the 50-mark in the ninth over thanks to Dhawan, who took the initiative. He completed his fifty-point mark after 51 deliveries, while Kohli too had a successful debut after hitting his first ball for a four. India, which had scored 104 in 20 overs, was attempting to continue while the asking rate was largely under control.
Keshav Maharaj's wicket of Dhawan in the 25th over gave South Africa the opportunity to retake the lead in the match. After reaching his half-century off of 60 balls, Kohli lasted just three more deliveries before India was once again forced into a period of rebuilding. India surged from 138 for one to 188 for six as a result of the swift succession of wickets of Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Venkatesh Iyer. Despite Shardul Thakur scoring 50 off 43 in the end, that stretch of play was sufficient to guarantee a straightforward victory for the home team.

Five Down
Ngidi strikes just as South Africa appeared to be in danger from Pant and Shreyas Iyer. Iyer was hit by a short ball, ending the 29-run stand. took a glove and went after it. Pant also loses for 16, one ball later. After missing the flip, Pant was easily stumped down the leg side by Phehlukwayo.
India 183 for 5
MAJOR WICKET
It was heartbreaking, but Kohli was out after 51 out of 63. Attempts to sweep Shamsi, but the ball strikes the cue end of the bat. Bavuma caught it easily.

For Kohli, 50

Falls of Dhawan
Dhawan is struck out for 79 by Maharaj, ending the 92-run stand. India was comfortably situated at 137 in 25 overs when South Africa got a wicket, which was fortunate timing. Kohli must now continue to play well and lead his team to victory.
India scored 102 in 19 overs. A half-century stand has also been raised by Kohli and Dhawan.
Fifty for Dhawan
After KL Rahul was quickly taken out of the game, it is crucial that Dhawan bats on and makes a huge score. India is laying the groundwork for the big chase, and Kohli and Dhawan will be expected to lead India as closely as they can.
India 80 for 1 in 15 overs
Markram Strikes
KL Rahul goes for just 12 off 17 and the 46-run opening stand has been broken. On off stump and Rahul got a faint outside edge. De Kock makes no mistake and SA persisting with Markram has helped them bag a big wicket. Virat Kohli walks out at No. 3 and gets a boundary on the second ball.

Dhawan and Rahul to open, Markram has the ball ...
SA post 296 for 4
Bavuma and van der Dussen made 204 for the third wicket on a sluggish surface and also got the highest fourth-wicket stand for South Africa against India.
After Bavuma won the toss and South Africa had a shaky start against Jasprit Bumrah, Janneman Malan appeared to be completely lost. The opener was caught behind and out for six, giving Bumrah his first powerplay wicket since the 2019 World Cup quarterfinal match between India and New Zealand in Manchester. Aiden Markram was run out for three and Quinton de Kock laboured to a score of 27 off of 41.
At 68 for 3, it had appeared that India would be able to tighten the screws even further, but Bavuma provided some adamant opposition, and van der Dussen swiftly cemented his position as the enforcer. Although R Ashwin was able to withstand the pressure, India was missing the old Yuzvendra Chahal on that particular day. To relieve the pressure, the leg spinner bowled too many loose deliveries and allowed boundaries to get through.
Since their series in India in March 2020 experienced a loss in the first games at Dharamsala and had the other two matches postponed for pandemic concerns, South Africa has only won three of their past eight completed ODIs. India has also won five of its nine games in the format since that time. The reason there are no WCSL points at stake is because the series has been transferred to South Africa.
