Best Moments of T20 World Cup in 2022

With so many records being set and broken and so many teams playing a tremendous number of games each year, it is never simple to narrow down the finest moments in cricket of a year, let alone a decade.

People always remember a specific sporting spectacle because of some heartfelt memories that occurred during that particular competition. From Gayle's century in the inaugural encounter back in 2007 to the West Indies' celebration in the 2012 World T20 finals, the World T20 has also had some memorable moments.

Nevertheless, we have narrowed the list to the top moments in the T20 World Cup ever.

T20 World Cup – Best Moments of All Time

These are some of the most enduring events that have ever taken place in cricket history.

Gayle Storm in Johannesburg – 2007

Chris Gayle of the West Indies, who is perhaps the best batsman in the T20 format, came out firing in the first match of the 2007 Twenty20 World Cup, hitting the first century in the history of the tournament.

The Caribbean power-hitter led his team to a massive score of 205 in Johannesburg with a 57-ball 117 that included 10 sixes and seven boundaries.

A 90-run blitz by Herschelle Gibbs and a 22-ball 46 runs from Justin Kemp helped Proteas win the match with 14 balls to spare after taking just two wickets. However, the West Indian bowlers were unable to hold on to the mark.

Yuvraj 6 Sixes – 2007

After a heated dispute in Durban, England discovered the hard way that offending Yuvraj Singh comes with a steep price.

After giving up a boundary in the 18th over, Andrew Flintoff yelled at Singh. However, Stuart Broad, who bowled the following over, was the one who suffered.

Singh destroyed England by hitting six sixes in one over and reaching his fifty in just 12 balls—the fastest in international cricket.

Bowl-out Misery – 2007

The "mother of all games" has been referred to as a Pakistan-India match.

It is so significant (and lucrative) that cricket administrators have acknowledged fixing tournament drawings to put the two teams against one another.

After finishing their innings on 141, the two South Asian teams competed in the first and last bowl-out, a newly added tie-breaker. Each team was given five bowlers to smash the stumps. Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, and Robin Uthappa succeeded for India while Yasir Arafat, Umar Gul, and Shahid Afridi of Pakistan fell short.

A bowl-out was eliminated from the competition and replaced by a Super Over as the ridiculous conclusion to a match between Pakistan and India approached.

New Zealand was ‘Bulldozed’ – 2009

At The Oval in 2009, Pakistan played New Zealand in a game they had to win.

When the Kiwis were 72-4 in the 13th over, Umar Gul was introduced. In his first over, he got rid of Scott Styris, then he wreaked havoc to finish with figures of 5-6.

After dismissing New Zealand for 99 runs, Pakistan easily chased down the mark in 13.1 overs for a six-wicket victory.

It was the first five-wicket haul in a T20 international match, and it prompted New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori to accuse someone of tampering with the ball during the press conference following the game.

W, W, W, W, 0, W - 2010

Mohammad Amir of Pakistan bowled one of the most lethal "death" overs in the annals of international cricket during the 2010 edition.

At 191-5, Australia appeared poised to surpass the 200-run threshold, but the 18-year-old had other ideas as he launched a barrage of yorkers in the penultimate over.

As the Australians lost two wickets to runouts, Amir went on to take three wickets. W, W, W, W, 0, W appeared on the last line.

‘Gangnam Style’ West Indies End Drought - 2012

West Indies ended their 33-year World Cup drought in a manner that will live long in the memory.

West Indies athletes lit up Colombo's Premadasa Stadium after defeating Sri Lanka by 36 runs in the championship match by copying Korean musician PSY's catchy dancing moves from his hit song Gangnam Style.

Even the home fans ignored the shock of their team's loss and joined in because it appeared to be so much fun for those watching.

Unbeaten Half-Centuries of Babar Azam & Mohammad Rizwan - 2021

By smashing an unbeatable half-century in the 7th edition of the T20 world Cup, Babar Azam & Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan defeat India by 10 wickets and register the first win over their arch-rival.

This was one of the greatest moments for Pakistan in the T20 tournament and set a marvelous victory against India in 6 six attempts in the tournament.
