India's independence was declared 75 years ago. Despite the country's many ups and downs over the past seven and a half decades, cricket in India has only grown. We saw history being made in every sport, not just cricket, and the most recent example of this occurred at the recently finished Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, when India came fourth and won an astonishing 61 medals, including 22 golds.
Here are the top moments in Indian cricket since the country gained its independence in 1947:
India won its first ever back-to-back international Test series in England and the West Indies in 1971.
Up to the 1983 World Cup victory, this was without a doubt India's finest cricketing achievement. It remains one of the most important occasions in India's test cricket history, though. The two triumphs against the West Indies and England were the first steps in India's 38-year path to becoming the top Test team.
First, in a five-match series in the Caribbean, Ajit Wadekar's team upset the renowned Sir Gary Sobers-led West Indies by a score of 1-0 at home. Then, in a three-match Test series, they overcame Ray Illingworth's strong English team, which had won the Ashes, 1-0.
As per cricketing videos, India eventually won the match by chasing down 170+ in the fourth innings, sealing off their first-ever Test series triumph in England after their heroic efforts in the Caribbean. Bhagawat Chandrasekar's brilliant bowling had England out for 101 in the second innings of the third Test at the Oval.

India’s Mini World Cup Win- 1985
India competed in the "Mini-World Cup" competition in Australia in 1984, two years after winning the World Cup. This tournament featured all of the top national teams. The 1985 World Cricket Championship featured seven competing nations: India, Australia, England, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies.
India wasn't as widely expected to win the competition because they had just dropped a series to England at home. Despite their heroic victory over the West Indies in the 1983 World Cup finals, the Indian team was one of the underdogs to win the match because they had lost three straight series after their World Cup victory and before they arrived in Australia.
However, India's success was largely due to Gavaskar's shrewd leadership skills and their great performance against all of the best teams. In the final, India memorably defeated Pakistan by 8 wickets to secure the championship.

Sourav Ganguly led India to victory in one of the most memorable Test matches at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata in March 2001. However, the challenging conditions behind the match-fixing case continued to affect Indian cricket. After being forced to follow on, Sourav Ganguly's team showed remarkable fortitude in Kolkata, while the Australians were prepared to outmaneuver India following their overwhelming victory in the first test.
The greatest test inning ever by an Indian turned the series around with the 180 by wall Dravid and the 281 by VVS Laxman. India won against all odds in Kolkata before pulling off a thrilling victory in Chennai to take the series 2-1.

India, headed by a youthful captain by the name of MS Dhoni, stunned everyone by defeating arch-rival Pakistan by a margin of 5 runs to win the tournament.
As you can see in cricket match videos, India won the toss and decided to bat in the event's conclusion. In the first innings, Gautam Gambhir's stunning 75-run performance helped the side to a score of 157/5. Pakistan failed to gather the necessary momentum as they continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. Misbah-ul-Haq was batting in the middle order and looking to add runs.
