  • Australia Crushing South Africa Against the Odds in 1999

In the semi-final at Edgbaston, Australia and South Africa came up against each other in the 1999 World Cup. Both the teams got bowled out for 213 but just the figures won’t make it good enough to explain their greatness.

Coming on the pitch to bat in the 2nd innings, Shane Warne stalled South Africa’s chase, only for Lance Klusener to swing the game back in their favor in the death overs.

When they were in dire need of 9 runs in the final over with just Allan Donald standing to accompany, Klusener belted the first two deliveries from Damien Fleming to the boundary.

However, they were left needing a solitary run from the remainder of the over to secure their spot in the final at Lord’s and their opponents South Africa couldn’t get over the line.

Donald was run out from the 4th ball of the over, and he along with Klusener ended up being stucked at the same end of the pitch, following a confusion over getting a single to win the game.

The results favored Australia and they went on to demolish Pak team in the final to lift the trophy.

  • Kevin O’Brien’s Innings to Defeat England in 2011

When Kevin O’Brien began his innings with the bat for some big shots against England in Bangalore in 2011, the moments were created as if he would reduce the margin of defeat for Ireland.

By the time he ended up smashing huge shots, his nation was on the brink of getting a worthy win over their rivals. The all-rounder came to the crease bringing his team up to 106-4 to revert England’s total score of 327-8 in the Group B fixture.

That was a stunning display of power hitting that you can watch in cricket video highlights. In 63 deliveries, Brien managed 113 runs single-handedly. Hammering 6 sixes and 13 fours in total, he made an aggressive batting to leave England helpless.

He reached 3 figures in 50 balls with a scampered two out to deep square leg, recording the fastest century in the history of the cricket tournament.

  • 6 Sixes By Herschelle Gibbs in 2007

South Africa got a huge win with 221 runs over Netherlands in 2007. The moment in the match highlights wouldn’t be so memorable if Herschelle Gibbs didn’t produce stunning  batting feats.

The right-handed batter became the first player to crunch 6 sixes in an over of international cricket during the matches in Basseterre.

Daan Van Bunge was the bowler and the leg-spinner had no answer as Gibbs kept launching him over the rope.

The ruthless gameplay with the bat brightened the day at the time when rain compelled a delayance to start the proceedings. Despite the match being reduced to 40 overs each, SA still managed to score 353-4. Jacques Kallis had hit a century not out but his efforts were overshadowed by the innings of Gibbs.

He contributed 72 off 40 and helped his team manage just another maximum in his innings before the dismissal by Luuk VanTroost.

  • Sachin Tendulkar Carried Around Mumbai in 2011

Emerging as a champion on the home ground was nothing less than a magical win of Sachin Tendulkar’s end to World Cup career. In his 6th and the final tournament, the Little Master was finally able to lay his hands on the Championship trophy as India successfully chased down the target of a total 274-6 with a remainder of 10 balls.

Though he fueled just 18 runs for the side, Tendulkar was the center of attraction in the winning celebrations that you can see in the cricket video highlights.

The veteran batter was carried around the Wankhede Stadium by his co-players  during the lap of honor.

In that edition, Kohli beautifully stated about the moment’s importance for him and the team as a whole, saying, ‘Tendulkar has carried the burden of the nation for 21 years. It is time we carried him on our shoulders.’
